Dokic added to Australia''s Fed Cup team

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Jelena Dokic has been included in Australia''s Fed Cup team, two years after she returned to the country following a highly-publicized switch of nationalities.

Dokic was named alongside Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua and Rennae Stubbs for next month''s Asia/Oceania Zone Group I playoffs in Perth.

Australia''s Fed Cup captain David Taylor said Dokic''s inclusion provided Australia with one of their strongest teams in years.

"We probably haven''t had a lot of luck on our side with injuries -- we had about four girls finish in the top 80 last year and we had one available to play," he told reporters in Brisbane.

"This year... there''s a real sense of excitement."

Dokic began her career playing for Australia but changed countries for Serbia and Montenegro in 2001 after her father claimed the Australian Open draw was rigged and the family packed up and left the country.

She left Australia to live in Europe but returned in 2006, saying she had never wanted to leave in the first place but had to follow her family.

Dokic was given a wildcard entry into this week''s Brisbane International but lost her first round match against former world number one Amelie Mauresmo.

She is currently ranked 177 by the WTA.
