Glavine agrees to stay with Braves on one-year deal

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Veteran pitcher Tom Glavine has agreed to a one-year deal to stay with the Atlanta Braves, the team announced on Thursday.

Glavine, who has 305 career wins, will sign a contract guaranteeing him $1 million with a possible $3.5 million earned through incentives, according to Atlanta''s website.

The 42-year-old left-hander is returning from surgery on his throwing shoulder and elbow that threatened to end his career. He finished 2-4 in just 13 starts last season.

Glavine made his Major League debut for the Braves in 1987 and spent 16 seasons with the club, winning two National League Cy Young Awards and World Series title in 1995.

He spent five seasons with the New York Mets from 2003-07 before returning to Atlanta last year.
