Suns'' Stoudemire out for two months after eye surgery
| PHOENIX (Reuters) - Phoenix Suns forward Amar''e Stoudemire will be out for about two months after having successful eye surgery on Friday. Stoudemire, 26, had the surgery to repair a partially detached retina in his right eye, the team said on its website (www.nba.com/suns). "We are very glad to hear that Amar''e should have a 100 percent recovery relative to his vision and his long-term prognosis is excellent," Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said in a statement. A four times All-Star, Stoudemire is the Suns'' leading scorer for the third straight season, averaging 21.4 points and 8.1 rebounds. Phoenix is 30-23 this season and one game behind Utah for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. "Obviously, it is very disappointing to lose him at this time," said Kerr. "We are all very excited about the progress the team is making, but Amar''e''s health... is our number one concern." (Writing by Steve Ginsburg in Washington; Editing by Ken Ferris) |
